Do you have a difficult time making decisions in life? In the philosophy of Yoga, we understand that the mind and body are deeply connected. Therefore, if you are someone who holds stress and tension in your body, even if it is somatically stored, the pain of your past experiences has also become stored within the mind… in memory, in emotions, thoughts, and feelings. This is why in Yoga and Martial Arts, we understand the importance of meditation with the body as a way not only to become physically strong to protect oneself, but also to become mentally clear, so that the mind is a safe and healthy place to reside in spirit and soul, too.

Mental peace and health are being addressed now in the Western world, as the rise of drug addiction, homicidal violence, domestic violence, and suicide is on the rise. Medication and therapy are the two most popular pathways in Western society in which mental health advocacy is being addressed. However, there are also ancient spiritual tools that are being used and can be used to help become more mentally clear and empowered. The spiritual tools I will list below can be explored according to your own personal values, interests, creativity, and style of worship to a Higher Love.
If you struggle with making choices, here are some spiritual tools that can be used to clear the mind and feel more empowered:
Pendulums. This is typically a beautifully and naturally made, weighted, spherical object held by a string in which you dangle and hold in front of your heart space. You ask a question to your Soul, or God, and your spiritual team of angels and divine ancestors, and the pendulum will swing according to your assigned direction of "yes" or "no." The theory here is that the pendulum responds to your electromagnetic waves, or your auric field, your chakra system. Therefore, it is your soul body that is speaking. This is a helpful method of making choices, not by leading with the mind which can become disconnected to the body from trauma, but again, with the Soul, and the Soul's relationship with God.
Tarot and oracle cards. It is important to note the difference between tarot and oracle cards. Tarot is a language rooted in ancient symbolic imagery. This historical context is interesting and worth further research; however, I will share here that most people today who use tarot for spiritual healing and empowerment are simply speaking with their soul based on the symbolic visual imagery and the thoughts, emotions, and feelings that arise from them. When used in a group or communal setting, tarot can be a way for the users to explore deeper spiritual connections and understanding of God in terms of universal human connection and collective spiritual growth towards peace, love, health, prosperity, and so on. Oracle cards also contain symbolic imagery and often beautiful illustrations; however, they usually contain an affirmation and a longer spiritual message written by an author who is typically an expert in communication with the spiritual realm (angels, animal guides, ancient archetypes, etc). Oracle cards are helpful for people who struggle with interpreting tarot's abstract symbols, especially when one is trying to read for themselves or may be a novice to reading tarot.
Other forms of divination. The theory here is that if you ask any question to your Higher Self, to God, an answer will come. The participant will typically communicate with God and ask to be shown a sign or an answer - sometimes leaving it open as such, or again by assigning specific signs for alternative answers. The participant will pray and then wait for their sign to come into awareness. Signs can be interpreted visually, circumstantially, symbolically, or through energy, or "vibrations," often described as warmth or other notable physical sensations. Other forms of divine communication are also often found in crystal healing, numerology, candle magic, astrology, feathers, animal encounters, and more. There are also active forms of seeking answers, such as intuitively feeling or searching through sacred texts – such as flipping to a page in the Bible according to what feels good or what one is being intuitively guided to explore. Some people are or can become spiritually gifted, in that they become clairaudient or claircognizant, for example, and are able to clearly hear or simply "know" the answer being communicated from the higher realm. It is true that these tools can be used to communicate with any realm outside of the human realm, so it is important to discern which realms the practitioner is referring to, especially when seeking consultation.
I hope this article provides clarity on spiritual tools to make the right choices that are available to deepen your spiritual and mental health, or at least help you better understand the people who use them.
