Spirit-Led Entrepreneurship in a Capitalistic World

I understand we live in a very complex world right now, where if you truly care about people and the environment, it is tempting to want to denounce any type of wealth accumulation or the money-making culture that is living in a capitalistic society. I am sure that for a lot of us, we want to rebel and rally against business and consumerism. But we are so far entrenched in our society and our culture that it is not realistic, logical, or even safe for us to completely separate ourselves from capitalistic ideology. We have ourselves to sustain and families to take care of and communities to build.

How I am personally approaching spirit-led entrepreneurship in a capitalistic world is to silence the political noise and remain in my peace and in calm focus on what Great Spirit is asking me to do and how I should be serving others. I have been working spiritually for many years regarding my self-worth and allowing myself to receive income fully for operating my own business, Conscious Lifestyle Coaching LLC, which is artistic and highly spiritual, eccentric even. I do not conform to how most businesses are developed or run, and thankfully, I do operate amongst a community of more eco-conscious, culturally diverse people in Western North Carolina, where it is not that radical or rebellious for me to be who I am and to live this way. Many communities around the United States are taking the initiative to collectivize now and to create more sustainable communities and economies while reforming family traditions and values to be more environmentally considerate.
What is happening politically may be a blessing because the dichotomy of the eco-conscious and unconscious realities is so distinct and so clear to us. Should we not make choices now, we risk imprisonment of our souls, possible starvation, or the slow and painful degradation of our bodies. All this to say, even if we are the ones who are choosing to live more compassionately with the land, to cultivate our lives with more empowerment, more care, more natural intelligence, and more innate wisdom – even if we have the privilege and the appropriate opportunity to live that kind of lifestyle, there are far too many who are without the vision that this is possible. There are too many without the resources they need to make it happen for themselves. Land has become too privatized and greedily hoarded, and the indigenous wisdom of natural cultivation, ancient seeds, and sacred medicines is still not intellectually recovered or holy revered as essential to human existence and progression in the United States.
If you are here with me, and you are a part of the cultural renaissance of returning back to our roots and reclaiming the soul, then you, we, have a responsibility to awaken as many, many, many other people as we can to holistic wellbeing and Earth-heart-centered community care. It is our responsibility to invite them into our communities and to teach others how to build sustainable communities themselves. Therefore, we are all spiritual teachers, artists, activists, healers, and farmers. But we must also be business professionals in a way that the world we do not live in can still hear us, can still connect with us, can still learn from us, can still trade with us, can still invest in our knowledge.
I have no shame about being a business owner, but if I am taking financial responsibility, then I'm taking the moral responsibility to be an intelligent and proper business owner that can change the systems that I sometimes not only dislike, but abhor. To change systems from the inside means I am a participant, a citizen of the very evils that I am denouncing and that I am living against. I am still kin to it. I am not running from it. I am still looking at the worlds I detest, shaking hands with it, making deals with it, making agreements with it that are leading to and shaping a higher vibrational life for myself and others.
Mutual aid is not only the solution in disaster, but should be our every day conscious commitment to honor human life just as we honor the success of business. We listen to the language of the wealthy to learn the language of the people in power, not to prove ourselves, but to at least create open space, an equal standing in desire for them to meet us where we are and for us to meet them where they are: to meet on an equal ground so that there are no separate worlds, but our worlds collide and more peace is birthed as there is no shame on an Earth where making money does not matter. I have released my shame of making money now, and I pray that you can untangle yourself from your own guilt and shame and build a more compassionate and abundant lifestyle with me.
