Is the American medical system cursed?

What I do love most about the American medicine system is that it keeps us alive. For the most part, if you are in need and walk into an emergency room in America, you will likely survive. The life expectancy of those living in developed, industrialized countries is still fairly high. The medical world has gifted us absolute miracles– cures for nearly any ailment and disease. However, there is a curse in the medical system that all healthcare providers need to be aware of.

You are in your most vulnerable place you could ever be as a human being when you are near death or you are extremely ill, and this, unfortunately, is what many human beings, the CEOs of hospitals and pharmaceutical companies, for example, capitalize on as they build their entire life's mission and empire upon it. So there are extravagant systems in place in which every ailment any human being comes into a hospital or into a doctor's office with, has a price offering.
When you are in your most desperate moments in life, you are not in your most consciously clear space in which you can make the best decisions for yourself. You will make any decision simply to stay alive, and of course, every doctor and healthcare provider wants to see you alive and healthy, but the sales training starts early. The monopolizers and exploiters have infiltrated American medical care and education: they pay for the trials and the research for the medicines that we use so that we can be sold them.
There are so many people in need of healthcare. The doctors are relying on the systems that are built for them, and so they are not going to ask you what your childhood was like, or what your access to good quality food is. They don't have time for these kinds of questions. They have a checklist to get through and 80 patients to see for the day. They don't have time to get to know you, so most doctors are truly scientists rather than healers. They are analyzing. They are coding. Restructuring and rewiring. They are charting and then they are assigning, referring, and selling to you medicines that you need (or perhaps you may die or suffer greatly). I understand we always need more doctors, but we truly need more healers… Yes, we need people to keep us alive, but we also need actual care that can only come from a genuine relationship.
As a spiritual practitioner, I'm wary of the American medical system that is always seeking to label and confine us to certain labels or disorders and diseases. Because if you understand spirituality and consciousness, you understand that anything that you perceive and think becomes your reality. If a doctor tells you that you might have cystic fibrosis, you are likely going to begin seeking answers for cystic fibrosis and the doctors, hospitals, and the labs, and the scientists will also be seeking an answer for you. In the meantime, here are some medicines. Here is a system, a protocol, that has already been developed for you without truly being curated to your own individuality for you to follow so that you can heal.
I don't have time to answer your questions. I don't have time to care about you, but I'm taking notes and I'm sending it out to the next person. I hope you do well. Take the pills I am prescribing you.
This is where we are. There is an authority that doctors and healthcare providers carry spiritually that many of them do not realize that they have: that they have the power with one simple sentence to imprison someone forever to an identity that may or may not be true, and according to how the message is delivered, it may or may not give someone hope for the rest of their lives that they can live a happy and healthy life. So what do we do?
Help support rural and small family practice physicians who embrace and prioritize relationship building, lifestyle choices, and alternative and holistic medicines.
Seek wider support for your healthcare, such as nurse practitioners, therapists, doulas, and coaches.
Remember your right to take things slow and to make your most empowered choices when it comes to your healthcare.
Do not always accept one doctor's first diagnosis. Do your own research and seek more professional opinions.
Ask as many questions as you need! If your healthcare provider cannot hold space for you, keep looking for one that can.
Know what your values are in life and make sure that your provider can help you honor them.
Monitor the energy of the provider's office and speak up if the environment makes you feel stressed due to inappropriate behavior or poor office or adminstrative management.
