What is Happening Politically in America?

I had a dream about the attempted ethnic cleansing that is happening in America. I was standing in line for communion, as we did in mass when I was a young altar girl in the Catholic Church where I grew up. The church was more filled with people than usual, and the communion line was wrapped around and around in the church with hordes of people. Suddenly, the priest began cleansing the church with incense, but a strange feeling filled the building that it was not incense, but a hazardous gas – a feeling that quickly turned to mass fear and hysteria. We tried not to breathe it in but knew it was nearly impossible, because it was. I felt a communal desire, a need to eat, but questioned the risk–would we see our family again? I felt the fear and severity of the choice and the predicament I was facing. I felt that many were choosing not to eat.

What is Happening Politically in America

When I woke up, I immediately thought of immigrant workers, or any people of color or foreign heritage in America right now, who must be filled with so much fear about becoming a victim of unnecessary violence and forced deportation, that they fear going to the grocery store to buy food. I thought of how it must be pure terror to question whether or not today may be the day you may never see your family again.

I have kept my writing and my business strictly non-partisan for a while, with a few commentaries every now and then in which I have shared my personal opinions on political matters. As a spiritualist and promoter of unity, I still cannot tell you I have picked a political side. I do not believe there is any side to pick but love. However, I will tell you, my readers, that what is happening politically in America is beyond protecting democracy and freedom. Freedom has always been under attack in this country. In my opinion, "democracy" has always been an illusion. American politics is not the issue; we have a spiritual problem. This spiritual war will not end until every human loves every human.

The most hopeful part of the dream is the possibility that the incense was not a hazardous gas at all – that the beings in the room have all fabricated their own worst fears. No one was breathing, and so a collective deep breath must begin. Someone, everyone, needs to stand up and say, "There is nothing to be afraid of. I love you." Then the chaos will end. Then the violence will end. The fear will dissipate. Clarity will ensue. Everyone will eat. Families will thrive. Light will ascend. Love will take over. Peace will arrive.
